the blankets made and lovingly presented outside the friedenskirche in hillbrow by all the crafters and much posing and feeling that maybe there is some warmth in the air, maybe a sense of optimism can be felt after the cold and long dark winter...a great achievement after 6 weeks of intensive training every day and keeping all the capabilities, craft abilities and colours in one head...and luckily no space to worry too much about what to do about nothing for mahala...

warmth and nothing
the blankets made and lovingly presented outside the friedenskirche in hillbrow by all the crafters and much posing and feeling that maybe there is some warmth in the air, maybe a sense of optimism can be felt after the cold and long dark winter...a great achievement after 6 weeks of intensive training every day and keeping all the capabilities, craft abilities and colours in one head...and luckily no space to worry too much about what to do about nothing for mahala...
my mother and griet
and by the end of july starting to work on ideas to use the fabric for upholstery just in case the bank gives us money and we can move...griet decides to walk all over the effort with the fabric and makes a real nice deurmekaar spul...as my mother says 'die hond het smaak en is deeglik bewus van watter tipe materiaal hy op sy bank wil he'
karos vir die karoo
by the 28th of july another blanket working together with queen and another application...we try again and hope that we can manage the shortfall...these blankets are part of our 'karos vir die karoo' project and we received many beautiful sample books from monica de ruvo and marcela reynoso...the fabric we carefully took out of the books, washed, tore the papers of and selected into colours and textures...such a gift that we are translating into artworks for the karoo...
a joyfull view and no money
such attention to detail from robert van wyk on this beautiful artwork that we gave as a gift to anne roberts who gave us 12 black plastic bags of fabric and 4 cardboard boxes of quilting fabric from england and america but the banks says no no no...what to do and where to start again...time is running out...
blankets and papers
by the 23rd of July the panic to find all the papers relevant fica documents made life simply unbearable and best then is to deviate and find a creative activity in order not to panic...so we all get into the taxi and john takes us with our newly quilted blankets to the bed in troyeville and we laugh a but also share a thought for those who do not have a warm bed to sleep on during our cold winter...
